Pediatric Orthopedic Skills Workshop: Ponseti Casting & Growth Plate Trauma

The Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Saint Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC), under the leadership of Dr. Dawit Alemayehu Tesfaye, invites orthopedic residents, pediatricians, and clinical officers to a full-day practical surgical workshop.

Workshop Agenda

• 09:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Lecture on “Biomechanics of the Infant Foot and Principles of Ponseti Clubfoot Correction”.
• 10:30 AM – 01:00 PM: Hands-on casting lab: Model-based practice of manipulation angles, plaster moulding, and avoid common casting pitfalls.
• 02:00 PM – 03:30 PM: Pediatric trauma masterclass: Protecting the physis (growth plate) in Salter-Harris fractures.
• 03:30 PM – 04:30 PM: Case presentations, complication management, and interactive parent communication strategies.
